The last few have been wild! I feel like I’m only now catching my breath. The launch of ‘YOU INVITED IT IN’ has, by far, surpassed all my expectations. THANK YOU to everybody who supported me with the launch of this book – friends and family, readers (especially my wonderful ARC readers), and fellow authors, you guys are all amazing and I feel incredibly lucky to have you all.
Over the past year and a half, I’ve learned so much about self-publishing, and I still have a lot more to learn. To me, the release of ‘YOU INVITED IT IN’ has been incredibly successful. With each launch, I’ve learned so much, which I then action in my next release. I worked things very differently this time around. I decided to use a different platform for the paperback in order for it to ‘go wider’ (meaning, bookstores can pick it up) and so that I could do a pre-order release. I had 101 paperback pre-orders (and 40 eBook pre-orders) which is more than my previous two books sold in months and months after their release. The pre-order gifts worked extremely well for this, as it meant people were more likely to pre-order and, therefore, my books were ranking in the Amazon charts prior to release. These gifts should be arriving with readers fairly soon (they’ll be shipped over the next couple of days). I will likely follow a similar pattern with my next books, with a few tweaks here and there. I’ll be doing a post for other indie authors about what worked well for me this time around – because I think it’s important to talk about what worked, and what didn’t, so that we can all learn together.
My next release will be BLOODY HELL: An Anthology of UK Indie Horror (August 1st), which features horror shorts from the most talented names in the UK indie horror scene. I cannot wait to share this book with you.
