Changes to the way I organise future bookings…
I’m trialling a new method for future bookings. Previously, when discussing future projects, I’d pencil clients into my diary approximately when I believed I’d have space. Due to the nature of ghostwriting, this isn’t always accurate. Some projects take longer than expected, and others are shorter… You get the idea.
The concept of a ‘wait list’ is something I’ve considered for a long time. It’s not something I was overly keen to do because I like clients to know that I’ve blocked out specific time for them. However, I’m getting booked almost a year in advance, and therefore it’s even harder to give start dates.
What I’m going to do instead, is this…
When you reach out about ghostwriting projects, I’ll add you to my wait list and give you an approximate timeframe to begin the project. During this time, you are more than welcome to reach out for updates and to discuss projects further. You are also welcome to change your mind and choose a different ghostwriter. If, when I reach out to you to say I’m ready to start your project (I’ll give you plenty of warning), you need more time or have changed your mind, I can accommodate that.
I love my job, and believe that this will allow me to fill my diary in a way that enables me to focus on current projects (giving them my all), while also providing a good experience for future clients.
If you are a current client, everything will remain as we have already discussed.
I’m hoping that this will allow me to…
-Be more strategic with bookings, and more organised.
-Spend allotted time each week working on my own books/projects.
-Achieve a work/life balance.
(In my dreams, right?)
-Be more selective about ghostwriting projects, and only take on projects that excite me, and that I believe match my skills/style/experience.
(Which I have been doing already, but it’s nice to reiterate…)
As always, thank you to my past, current, and future clients for being so talented, awesome, and allowing me the space and grace to bring your projects to life.
I have the best clients ever.
